Pouran Jinchi was the first artist whose work I was assigned to organize and catalog on artnernal for The Third Line Gallery. I especially enjoyed the Alef Series Group, which reminds me of Turkish Delights.  I am drawn to Jinchi's use of calligraphy and how she deconstructs Islamic calligraphy to create her unique visual language that spans across mediums. Her background in civil engineering and mathematics has greatly shaped her methodological approach as an artist.

As I learn more about Pouran Jinchi alongside other artists such as Monir Farmanfarmaian (who is well known for her exploration of mathematics and sacred geometry that can be found in nature and Islamic architecture) and Hayv Kahraman (who also uses geometric patterns in her dramatic deconstructions and contortions of women's bodies as social commentary on imperialism, gender oppression, and performance), I hope to come to a deeper understanding of the important role that sacred geometry plays in visual art.
